The Belmar Republican Committee is pleased to announce their endorsement of Councilman Mike DeBlasio for Belmar Mayor and Suzanne Anan for Belmar Council in the June 2, 2026 primary.
Both candidates are very active in our Belmar community.
Mike was elected to the Belmar Council in 2025. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, both graduated from St. Rose Grammar School. Mike’s family is fifth generation Belmartians.
Mike is the owner of DeBo Construction, and a licensed Civil and Construction Engineer. Mike is also an agent and Partner at Haven Realty, located on Main Street in Belmar. He has extensive experience in all aspects of planning, zoning and construction.
Mike is in his fifth year as a Belmar Planning Board member. Over this time Mike has observed significant communication failures and lack of communication from the current administration. Along with his duties as a council and planning board member, he is very active with St. Rose Church, serving on the Parish Counsel and coaching the St. Rose Grammar School softball team.
Mike’s decision to run for mayor was when he experienced the lack of transparency, not only to the public, but to the council members as well. Mike’s voting record shows his concern for the residents of Belmar. One of Mike’s main priorities will be to discuss with residents the option of changing our form of government, with his goal to eliminate the current Strong Mayor form. In other words, reduce the Mayor’s power and allow the votes of council to have a voice and effect on decision making.
Suzanne and her loving and supportive husband Mike have lived in Belmar for almost 24 years. They raised two children who graduated from Belmar Elementary School. She is a parishioner of Saint Rose Church. Her two sons are both in college and work as a Belmar lifeguard and camp counselor over the Summer.
Suzanne is an award-winning, renowned artist who has had exhibitions around the world from Japan, Ireland to Paris and Italy. She has her own conceptual design business and works with clients in the Visual and Performing Arts, including The State Theatre of NJ, and the Newark Museum. She collaborates with her clients both here and abroad and consults with a diverse audience as a winning team.
Suzanne designed the Belmar Wave logo back in 2012 which she allows Belmar to use free of charge for their municipal and community needs. She has worked with several past administrations and prides herself as an independent working seamlessly with all parties. She believes in working together for the good of the town. Suzanne holds an AS from Brookdale Community College, a BFA from Kean University and a Master’s Degree from New York University. She is an adjunct professor at Kean University. She was happy to donate two of her original oil paintings to hang in Borough Hall. She has worked on the beachfront committee to restore the boardwalk and its structures back during hurricane sandy. She understands the need for aesthetics. Her designs range from branding the Pavilion to the Howard Rowland building, the Marina, the Belmar Beach Patrol and her goal is to brand the water tower.
Her major goal will be to restore and unite Belmar. She is thinking ahead to Belmar’s future and she looks forward to sharing her ideas and learning the hopes and needs of the community and she will do this with her whole heart.
Suzanne firmly believes that Mike DeBlasio is the best person to lead Belmar for the next four years. Mike is a man with great integrity, intellect and kindness. Suzanne would like to work closely with Mike to give our residents the respect they deserve and the transparency that was promised to them. With your support we can accomplish this major goal. With this mindset of kindness, compassion and common sense, these two leaders can restore our town to a united BELMAR.
